ARRIVING VANUATU AND HOSPITAL VISIT

On the way down from Lata I had developed ugly looking ulcers around my mouth and lips.  I was worried about what was causing them, I set off to find the hospital.  It was a long walk to the hospital along the road to the airstrip.  I managed to arrive before the doctor finished for the day.  I told the doctor about my recent malaria and the drugs I was taking.  He responded that the ulcers were a common side effect of the Primaquine tablets I was taking.  The doctor gave me some multivitamin pills and said the ulcers will clear up when I finish the course of treatment.  That was a relief, it wasn’t some flesh-eating tropical disease.

3GM30F FUEL INJECTOR PUMP LEAK REMEDY

Over the last few months I have been noticing a slight trace of diesel around the top of the injector pump where the fuel lines come out and up to the injectors.  I had that nagging feeling that something was not right.  Engine problems don’t heal themselves, they only get worse.

CHANGING ENGINE MOUNTS YANMAR 3GM30F

For a couple of years now I have been observing the rust accumulation on the engine mounts.  Looks nasty and it’s a pain to keep cleaning up.  But on closer inspection I could not see any structural failure and the rubber inserts appeared to be OK. So I just convinced myself that it was a cosmetic issue and everything was working well under the surface. Recently I had noticed that the engine was moving around on the mounts more than normal, the change may have been ongoing slowly so I hadn’t picked it up sooner.  Worn engine mounts cause more engine movement, the symptoms were there.
